This sled dates to sometime in the early to mid 1950s. The boy who owned it eventually out grew it and his parents sold it at a rummage sale to friends from their church. That family's children used it for a few more years and then it was put in their garage rafters where it sat untouched for the last 30 or 40 years.
A few weeks ago the kids and I went to visit Gary and Linda, friends I worked for before my current job. It turns out that years ago Linda's parents attended the same church as my grandpa and grandma Soliday, and they knew each other well. Linda told me that her mother had just given her a sled that had been sitting in her parent's garage rafters. It was a sled they bought at a rummage sale years ago. Ruth and Victor Soliday's rummage sale! The sled you see was my father's childhood sled! Now how cool is that?
