A tribute to our freedom

Every year on the weekend after Memorial Day a major reenactment takes places at the VA Medial Complex in Milwaukee. The kids and I try to hit every one we can. It really is very cool and we highly recommend it. It's free to the public and there are re-enactors from every American campaign imaginable – the French and Indian War, the Revolutionary War, The Civil War, WWI, WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. Here's just a small sample of the many pictures I took this year. Enjoy!

BAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!

He's back! Am I'm pretty sure he wanted to attack me again! AAAHH! It's bigger than ever too! Billy the bat took up residence under my patio umbrella again this year. This afternoon my neighbor Cindy and I slooooowly (and I mean slowly!) lifted the umbrella and snapped these EXCLUSIVE shots! That flying rabid vermin is resting peaceful up above me even as I write this. No, I'm not kidding. Sucker better be earning his keep by eating, what, 2000 skeeters, every night or he's outta here!!!

Rockin' Robins

Hey! Kyle noticed a momma robin and four chics on a nest right next to the neighbor's house. It's very cool to watch her and them from our kitchen window! Check it out! remember you can click on the images to see them larger.

Memorial Day parade 2009

Debbie, Kayla, Kyle and I went to the Menomonee Falls Memorial Day parade with Charlie and Michelle this morning. It was our first parade of the season! The weather was excellent and the parade was fun, but Deb said there wasn't enough marching bands!

Kayla the painter

Thought I'd share this picture. Kayla's been on a painting kick lately! We bought her some canvases and some new acrylic paints and she's already painted several floral pieces. Very talented!

Kayla's confirmation

Kayla was confirmed last Sunday, May 17th. Congrats, Kayla! We're very proud of you! After the church service we had a party for her back at the house. Charlie, Michelle, and Sierra came, as well as Wayne, Renee, grandma Soliday, Glenn, and Evelyn. Kayla also invited Katie and Julie to celebrate with her. Oh! Thanks go to Debbie for all her great dishes and organizational skills!
