It's time to run!

Hey everyone, Kayla made the track team again this year! She practices several days a week after school and usually also has two meets per week. She runs in the 1600m relay and the 400m individual race and is doing pretty good! Keep it up, Kayla! We're proud of you!

Colorado!

I took a solo trip to Colorado to visit my family there over the weekend of Easter. Had a blast! It's so good to see everyone again after almost two years. I look forward to going back in July with Debbie and the kids. Enjoy the pictures!

It's GREEN!

Kayla somehow talked Debbie and I into letting her paint the upstairs bathroom – and then somehow we all ended up doing the work! It used to be a nice white and now, well, it's some kind of wild limey green with orange and blue polka dots. Hmm. Long as she likes it. Let me know what YOU think!

New kitchen cabinets? Um, not quite.

I finally decided to take the plunge and paint my old country blue kitchen cabinets a nice, fresh white. If you've been over recently you know I've been threatening to finally paint them after all these years here. I've hated the color since I moved in! What a project it was. It took Debbie and I over 20 hours to get it done but it sure looks good now in off white! Check out the before and the after pics. Don't forget that you can click on them too. So what's next? A rich, warm yellow for the walls! Stay tuned...

Sweet (just south of) Home Chicago

Debbie and I recently took a day trip to Chicago to visit the Field Museum. What a blast! I have never been there and really enjoyed it. Among the many great things we saw, my favorites definitely were the Man-eaters of Tsavo (the two mane-less male lions who killed over 100 men in East Africa in the late 19th century), and Sue, the T-Rex. Deb and I are looking forward to going back sometime soon. Oh, and Soldier Field is butt ugly. Really.

Aaarrr-gh!!!

For the last two months Kayla's been spending a lot of time after school practicing for the spring school play, Pirates of Penzance. She won a role as one of the Major General daughters. Finally, after all that practice, the play took place last weekend. And she did great! In the photo on the right she's the second girl from the left. Cute, huh?! Afterward, I took a picture of Kayla and her friend Julie, who was also in the play, and their friend Katie who came to watch. We're proud of you Kayla!

The Crush crushes the competition

Kyle's bowling team, The Crush, took first place in their junior league for 2008-09! The Crush features the talents of Tyler, Carl, Mitchell, and our own Bubba. Last Saturday the team took on the Bowling Aces in the season finals to determine who would go down as the best team in the league. And they won! Congrats to Kyle! We're so proud!!!
